What are extended cab vs crew cab trucks?

A regular cab truck features one row of seats with a small amount of storage space and legroom, as the name suggests. A regular cab used to be the single configuration available on pickups. In many regular cab pickups, the seats practically touch the back side part of the cab. This model is the utilitarian version of a pickup and is normally found with manual windows and locks. A regular cab is a work truck, not for hauling your friends and family.
As one might expect, an Extended Cab pickup truck (sometimes called a Double Cab) is basically just a Regular Cab with more room behind the front seating. When first introduced, extended cab pickups were sold as 2-doors and had small jump seats behind the front row. These days they may be called a Double Cab pickup truck, these trucks now come with slim, second-row doors for easy access to the rear cargo area. Despite having 2 rows of seats, an Extended Cab pickup truck wouldn’t be the best option for long trips, even though it can haul more people.
While maybe not as clear as the earlier models, a Crew Cab pickup has 4 normal-size doors and the room to transport, well, your ‘crew.’ Crew Cab pickup trucks are built to carry more stuff and people. In some circles, these trucks have become the family vehicle. A Crew Cab pickup’s more powerful engines and larger size are unavailable in the 4-door sedan segment while still being able to offer the passenger legroom and comfort that families need.
